Are you, your administrator, your school district, or your Department of Public Instruction looking for a new ESL textbook?
OR
Are you interested in fun and engaging activities for your English lessons?
Chances are you have tried to find THE right fit for you and your students for a while now. It’s complicated and time consuming to compare everything that’s out there. There are just too many textbooks, supplemental materials, apps, websites, and printable worksheets. Now, we don’t want to consume any more of your precious time, so we compiled our most relevant data into some simple charts that will give you a great overview of what our Let’s Talk! English curriculum has to offer.
As an all-in-one-solution with all activities already created and ready to assign in our interactive language teaching platform, SmartClass might be the solution for you!
1. Activity breakdown by level
2. Skills, focuses, and topics of each ESL textbook level
Before we started adding our own curricula to our SmartClass language teaching platform, we spoke with teachers that were already using the platform and those who were looking to integrate technology into their daily language teaching lessons. The two big "area of concern" for teachers, no matter what language they were teaching were:
1. My students don't speak enough and there isn't any speaking material/software out there
and
2. I don't have enough time to grade everything and prepare lessons.
That's why we decided to solve these two issues for you!
- Our activities focus on listening, speaking, and pronunciation, while also strengthening reading and writing.
- All activities are integrated into our engaging and interactive SmartClass platform. All you have to do is select and assign the activities you want your students so complete.
- About half of the activities in each proficiency level are auto-graded by our system!
- You can edit existing activities and create your own to truly customize and adapt our curriculum to your needs and preferences!
The following chart breaks down the different activity types by proficiency level (A1, A2, B1, B2). The activities with an asterisk (*) are auto-graded.
Now, let's take a closer look at the different levels. In each book, we have six chapters. Each of these chapters consists of 3 sections. Each sections covers vocabulary, grammar, and one to two partner/group activities for conversation practice. Each chapter also includes a "Let's Talk" section with authentic interviews and videos and corresponding activities. At the end of each chapter, we have a complete review and assessment section as well.
The topics of A1 and A2 are repeated in the B1 and B2 levels again to deepen the understanding and challenge students with more complex and authentic activities related to these important topics.
* The Pronunciation activities count both as auto-graded and "speaking" to the total doesn't match the actual total of activities in each level.
